Boudh: A huge quantity of ganja valued at more than Rs one crore was seized during a special operation by excise department officials inside a forest in Odisha’s Boudh district.
The seizure was made during the raid which came as part of the special drive being conducted by the excise department officials in view of the ongoing elections.
Acting on a specific information, the raid was conducted by a team of officials at two sites in Baghiapada area of the district where drugs mafia had stocked a huge quantity of ganja to be smuggled out of the state, sources said.
While ganja weighing over 5.15 quintals was seized from one site inside the forest, around 5.60 quintal marijuana was recovered from another nearby place. The total value of the contraband was estimated to be more than Rs one crore, sources said.
