Cuttack: The Quick Action Team (QAT) of Commissionerate Police seized ganja worth Rs 4.50 lakh from Jhinkiria village under Sadar police limits in Cuttack district on Saturday.
Two brothers identified as Narayan Pati and Lalat Pati were arrested for allegedly possessing the contraband.
Acting on a tip-off a police team carried out raid in a house in the village and managed to seize ganja weighing about 94 kg.
According to police sources, the duo used to supply ganja to different parts of Cuttack district and other places in the state. They are being questioned to know the involvement of other people in ganja smuggling.
On May 2, more than 12 quintal of ganja worth Rs 50 lakh was seized by the excise sleuths at Kalibati area on National Highway- 16 under Jankia police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Two persons were arrested and a pick-up van was seized during the raid.
The contraband was being allegedly transported from Mohana in Gajapati district to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.
