Koraput: Lamataput police seized 5 tonne ganja stashed in 223 gunny bags from an area near Tikaput village in the district and arrested three persons, including two from Uttar Pradesh.
The contraband, estimated at Rs 5 crore, was being smuggled to Chhattisgarh when police seized it.
Police said the ganja was being smuggled in a salt-laden truck on Thursday night when a team of Lamtaput police, led by Nandapur SDPO, intercepted the vehicle and seized the contraband after a search.
The three arrested persons are Sudarshan Lendur of Machkund and Umesh Babu and Singhpal of Uttar Pradesh. Two others fled from the spot.
