Jeypore: In a joint raid, the BSF personnel and the Machhkund Police seized 8 quintals of ganja worth Rs 80 lakh from a pick-up van near a village in Koraput district late on Tuesday night.
Informing the media on Wednesday, SDPO, Nandapur, Sajay Mahapatra said that acting on an intelligence input, the BSF and the Koraput police intercepted a pick-up van near Hanumal village. However, seeing the security personnel, the driver, cleaner and three others managed to escape.
The security personnel later seized 8 quintals of ganja and a country-made gun from the van.
Efforts are on to trace out the owner of the pick-up van, the SDPO added.
