Angul: Dress materials worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in a massive fire at a garment store in Odisha’s Angul town on Monday. However, there was no report of any casualty in the mishap.
According to sources, a massive blaze at a popular garment store located at Bazar Chowk in the industrial town, turned dress materials, apparels and inner wears worth lakhs of rupees to ashes. The fire was suspected to have originated from a short circuit.
During the mishap, employees of the store were trapped inside the store for quite some time, until fire service personnel rescued them safely.
It took fire services team hours to douse the flame completely. Angul police have begun a probe into the incident.
Asked about the total loss due to the tragedy, the owner of the store stated since the store was still filled with thick smoke, the exact loss due to the mishap was difficult to ascertain. However, initial estimation suggests it would be in lakhs.
It may be recalled that on November three this year, more than 20 shops in Angul Daily Market were completely gutted in a massive fire.
