Kolkata: A gas leak during repair work of a furnace killed three workers at the SAIL-run Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) in West Bengal.
The trio was trapped inside a vacuum oxygen unit at steel plant. Many others fell ill and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police officials said the three workers were rushed to the DSP hospital. Considering the seriousness of their injuries, they were shifted to bigger hospitals where they died.
A high-level probe has been ordered by authorities at DSP, which is one of the oldest plants run by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
