Gas Tanker Overturns In Cuttack, Traffic Crawls On NH

Cuttack: Traffic was blocked on both sides of road near Madhupatna Chhack in Cuttack on National Highway-16 for several hours after a tanker carrying gas overturned late on Sunday.

The authorities concerned evacuated the people from nearby areas fearing gas leakage from the tanker.

Police sources said the driver of the tanker bearing registration number KA 01 AF 5782 coming from Bhubaneswar lost control over the vehicle and it overturned at around 12:30 am due to bad roads. A person, who sustained injuries in the mishap, was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The tanker was later fixed upright by police, fire and ODRAF personnel with the help of two cranes this afternoon safely. However, rescue operation is underway by the team of experts, the sources said.
