Berhampur: The design of the much-awaited overbridge at Gate Bazar Square connecting five different roads here has received Government approval, said Arun Satpathy, Executive Engineer, Division I, Public Works Department (PWD).
The overbridge will be helpful in decongesting traffic at the square. Heavy traffic at the square remains a challenge for police.
The 1,200 metre overbridge will connect City Hospital Square with Giri Market Square. It will be 12.79 meters wide, he added.
“We have completed the design and survey a fortnight back. The detailed project report (DPR) of the overbridge is under progress and we can reveal the estimate of the expenditure after the DPR is ready,” he said.
However, a final decision is yet to be made on the overbridge from Gate Bazar to Lochapada, he added.
Construction of the overbridge would facilitate public to move to Giri Market, Bada Bazar and other areas smoothly, he added.
