Bhubaneswar: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat on Monday praised Odisha Police for maintaining high standards of law and order in the state.
In his virtual keynote address at the 62nd Senior Police Officer’s Conference, he said apart from maintaining law and order and bringing down the crime rate, state police succeeded in tackling the challenges of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) in close coordination with all other Central Armed Police Forces operating in the region.
Explaining the changing geo-strategic environment of India, Rawat said the fallout of events such as climate change, de-globalisation, regionalisation, popular protests, trade wars and such other developments has raised the risks of destabilisation and disruptions while the asymmetric warfare has brought in greater challenges. “In this background, the role of police in ensuring internal stability is critical,” he added.
Expressing that the deliberations in the 62nd conference would help police to look to the future as guardians of internal security to face the challenges ahead, Rawat hoped that the Odisha Police will continue to be the pillar of strength, security and confidence for the people of the state.
