Bhubaneswar: The Centre has mobilised 75 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to ensure smooth conduct of Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in Odisha.
This was stated by Archana Shivhare, CRPF IGP, Odisha Sector at a press meet here on Monday. Shivhare has been appointed as the state force coordinator in Odisha.
She said the CAPFs include 35 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 30 companies of Border Security Force (BSF) and 5 companies of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The security forces have been deployed for area domination, patrolling and checking, she added.
“Though the Central paramilitary forces are deployed for anti-Naxal operations in Odisha, the Home Ministry mobilised the force in the pre-poll phase to instil confidence and sense of security among the voters,” the IGP said.
The CAPFs have already been deployed in sensitive and hyper-sensitive districts. They were carrying out patrolling, flag marches, and regular checking drives.
