Mumbai: An outraged woman in Mumbai’s Worli confronted Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan amid severe traffic snarls from the BJP’s rally protesting the women’s reservation bill’s failure, pinning the blame squarely on him.

The confrontation happened on Tuesday during Mahajan’s media briefing at the rally, which slammed opposition parties for derailing the Constitution Amendment Bill. That measure was designed to accelerate 33% women’s reservation in legislatures but stalled in the Lok Sabha, PTI reported.

Caught on camera, the viral video intensified online scrutiny of the BJP’s demonstration methods.

The furious woman lashed out at the minister, yelling about road blockages and commuter hardships.

“Get out of here. You are causing a traffic jam,” she said, questioning why the rally wasn’t shifted to a nearby open ground

to avoid hampering traffic.

Mahajan sought to pacify her, but she came back firing, declaring, “Did you not understand? What is wrong with you? There are hundreds of people waiting.”

She rebuffed a police officer’s attempt to intervene, snapping back and insisting no one talk to her.

Once the video hit social media, Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal reposted it, charging that the BJP’s women’s reservation push revealed its “real face”.

He alleged the party was duping women for electoral advantage and weaponizing the issue to spread a “false narrative”.

Sapkal added that the opposition coalition had already blocked “the BJP’s attempt to alter constitutional and electoral processes under the guise of reservation”, forcing the saffron party to fall back on rallies and spin.

Former state Congress chief Nana Patole also circulated the clip, slamming the BJP’s “drama” for tormenting everyday people.

He argued the woman’s rage mirrored rising public anger, predicting women nationwide would echo her rejection of the BJP ahead.

The BJP continues demonstrations against the Congress and allies over the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’s collapse, which promised 33% seats for women in Parliament and assemblies.
