New Delhi: It was Lalu Prasad Yadav the other day who urged Rahul Gandhi to tie the knot. And on Saturday, a woman farmer asked Sonia to get her son married.
“Please find a girl for him,” Sonia responded.
The tete-a-tete took place during a freewheeling interaction between Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka with some female farmers from Haryana’s Sonipat at a lunch hosted by the senior Gandhi at her residence. It was a promise made by Rahul during his recent visit to their fields.
Rahul took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share a video of the fun and banter they had with the women, amid serious talk on food, women empowerment and GST as part of an outreach initiative.
“A day to remember for Ma, Priyanka and me with some very special guests! Delhi darshan of Sonipat’s farmer sisters, dinner with them at home, and lots of fun things to do. Got priceless gifts together – desi ghee, sweet lassi, homemade pickles and lots of love,” Rahul tweeted.
The lively video shows Sonia dancing with the women.
One of the women also feeds Rahul some of the delicacies the farmers had brought for the Gandhis.
Watch the video tweeted by Rahul:
Rahul had made an impromptu stop on July 8 at Sonipat’s Madina village, where he interacted with local people and spent time with farmers working in agricultural lands.
The Congress leader then promised to invite them for a ‘Delhi darshan’ as they had never visited the national Capital despite living so close.
