Bhubaneswar: The grand premiere of the much-awaited Odia film ‘Bishwass -The Light Over Darkness’ under the banner of Sudhanya Creatives was held at Cinepolis on Wednesday.
Veteran artists, directors, producers, critics from Ollywood fraternity and eminent personalities of the state attended the premiere and appreciated the original concept and theme of the film.
An epoch-making film, it has been shot in the many bewitching and attractive locales of Odisha; particularly in the natural bounties of Mayurbhanj District. The eclectic story is based on the supernatural elements of belief & make-belief, hypnotic spells prevalent across religion, culture, traditions, taboos and societies worldwide. The mystic and esoteric orientation of the theme is nonchalant and utterly superstitious driven by a social drama revolving around make-belief. It drives the central theme with the tone of indigenous places on sorcery and black magic as a social menace.
The film is based on the life of a girl called Pallavi, the central character and the protagonist of the social drama played by an amazing debutante Sahil Mishra (Guddi) and how she encounters various situations of superstitions at different stages of her professional life.
The story unfolds with anecdotal suspense, symbolic depictions, surrealism and magic realism where characters have been juxtaposed for a seamless effect. The lyrical song numbers have aided the magic portrayal of the storyline and narrative of superstitious belief.
The whole cast has made its debut in the film. It includes Sujay Mohanty, Arun Mohanta, Biswajit Das, Tapas Panda, Sudhir Mohanty, Mangal Besra, Gokul Das, Santosh Mohanty, Shiba Shankar Barik, Master Navneet Mohanta, Lambodar Singh, Sangram Bhanjdeo and Sujeet Natha.
The female case includes Sagarika Das, Darsana Bhanjdeo, Arpita Das, Prakashini Mishra and Reslee Patra.
The film is scheduled for a January 2022 release.
