Faridabad: A giant crane which was being used in the construction work of a flyover on the Jewar-Faridabad Expressway collapsed on a makeshift shelter at in Haryana on Thursday.
According to police, one worker was rescued with critical injuries and a leg crushed, while at least five others are feared trapped under the heavy-duty overhead lifting machine.
Rescue teams are continuing search efforts to bring out those trapped under the heavy equipment.

The incident took place near Panhera Khurd village, under Chhainsa police station jurisdiction, between 1.30 pm and 2 pm, public relations officer of Faridabad Police Yashpal Yadav said.
“Police received information about the accident around 3pm after which rescue workers with cutting equipment went to the spot,” he said.
“Efforts are still going on to cut or lift the collapsed part of the crane and the container to reach the other workers. The collapsed equipment weighs several tonnes,” he said.
According to officials supervising rescue efforts, several shipping containers were at the site and were being used as makeshift site offices or resting places by officials, contractors and workers.
Sunil Kumar, an eyewitness, described the mishap. “During the storm, a crane overturned. Two people were rescued, but 2-3 people are still trapped. This crane is working on the construction of the Jewar Airport flyover,” Kumar told ANI.
