Berhampur: A 13 feet long python was rescued from a drain in front of the main gate of Chandiput UP School under Paralakhemundi forest division in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Monday.
According to sources, the snake was lying coiled there for the last two days.
Locals informed the Snake Helpline Berhampur on Saturday evening. Following which, a team led by Swadhin Kumar Sahu and Srikant Nahak reached the spot. They took about 30 minutes to rescue the python alive.
Soudamini Patnaik of the Forest department helped the team and the python was later released into the nearby jungle safely on Monday, the sources added.
