Bhubaneswar: BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena unveiled an eight feet high Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup replica trophy amid much frenzy here on Tuesday.
The giant trophy will be on display at the Unit-II Market Building from October 16 to November 28.
“I thank the BMC and the Marketing building association for organising this event and the Department of Sports and Youth Services for making this successful. I truly hope India wins the actual trophy and we are able to keep the original one with us for a longer time,” Jena said.
In addition to this trophy, six more trophy replicas have been put up across various centers in the city.
The giant trophy will be shifted to the fan village created inside the stadium once the games start on November 28.
The Odisha government is going all out promoting the event and pushing Bhubaneswar as the ‘Sports Capital of India’. The state-of-the-art infrastructure facility is being developed at Kalinga Stadium for the international event.
