Bhubaneswar: A young girl was caught shoplifting on CCTV camera at a jewellery showroom in Odisha capital.
She allegedly stole two gold rings worth Rs 60,000 from the jewellery shop at Rajmahal Square here, a few days back. Based on the shop owner’s statement and the footage obtained from the CCTV, a case has been registered at Capital police station here and a probe launched.
During the examination of the footage, it was found that a girl dressed in a pink top, black pant and a monkey cap with spectacles walked into the shop and made away with the two rings when the owner left the shop to attend some work.
“She asked me to show gold rings weighing between 8 and 12 grams. When I went out of the workshop for some work, she decamped with two rings,” said Manoranjan Swain, the shop owner.
Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohant said they will examine the CCTV footage from the jewellery shop to ascertain her identity.
In July 2015, a lady doctor and her 50-year-old mother were arrested for allegedly stealing fancy materials like sarees, dress materials and vanity bags from malls, boutiques and shops in the city.
