Berhampur: A girl died after she allegedly consumed poison in front of her ex-boyfriend’s house at a village in Gangapur area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday.
The incident took place when the deceased, who hailed from Mujagada village, had reportedly been to her ex-boyfriend’s house at nearby Kshyatriyabarpur under the jurisdiction of Gangapur police station.
As per preliminary reports, the girl had gone to Kshyatriyabarpur to meet her former boyfriend Shyamaghana Gouda. After an interaction over some issue, the girl allegedly consumed poison.
Shyamaghana rushed her to the nearby Gobara hospital. However, she was declared dead at the hospital. Her family members were informed about the incident.
However, family members of the girl alleged that Syamaghana killed their daughter by forcing her to consume poison.
A team of police personnel rushed to the spot and sent the body to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for post-mortem. Investigation into the incident is underway.
The girl and Syamaghana were stated to have been in a relationship for a long time before he got married a few months back. It was not immediately known as to why the girl had been to her ex-boyfriend’s place and what transpired between the two.
