Puri: Sea Beach police detained a youth after his female friend was found dead inside a guest house at Chakratirtha Road in Odisha’s Puri on Tuesday.
The youth has been identified as Pintu Nayak.
Nayak and the deceased belong to Khandapada in Nayagarh district. They arrived at the guest house on Monday afternoon and spent the night there. Pintu went out to get breakfast the next morning. While he was away, a guest house staffer found the girl lying dead on the bed inside the room and a bedsheet hanging from the ceiling fan, sources said.
On being informed, Sea Beach police reached the guest house and took Pintu into custody.
Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased has accused Pintu of abducting her and killing her after sexual assault, the sources added.
