Gajapati: A girl was found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances near Randaba Patrabasa square at Mohana in the district on Wednesday.
The girl, a Class-IX student, had gone missing from home on December 10. Her family members had also lodged a police complaint in this regard.
On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body. It is suspected that the girl was murdered and later put up on the tree to pass it off as a case of suicide.
Further investigation is underway.
