Bhubaneswar: Setting an example of hard work and dedication, a girl from a slum in Bhubaneswar has scored 94% marks in the Plus II examinations whose results were declared by CHSE on Wednesday.
The girl, Barsha Rani Swain, staying in Beherasahi slum of Odisha capital, is a student of BJB Higher Secondary School. She had passed Class X Board examination from Sisu Mandir.
Her father Santosh Kumar Swain, who belongs to Ganjam district, is an electric mechanic by profession and the family has been living in the slum for the last 11 years.
“Barsha has been a brillnant student and highly studious. In spite of our weak economic condition, I have been trying to help her in all possible ways in her education to encourage her to study. Now I am happy that she has been rewarded for her labour,” said Santosh while speaking to media persons on Thursday.
Barsha, on her part, said she was happy that she could make her parents happy. “I believe that there is no alternative to hard work to achieve success. At the same time, one has to be smart in his/her perseverence,” she added.
