Baripada: A young girl died as an auto-rickshaw going in high speed collided with her scooter in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
The girl has been identified as 20-year-old Sumitra Mahanta of Sakiladihi under Adarsh Town police limits in Rairangpur of the district. She was working in a private company in Keonjhar district.
As per reports, Simitra was going on her scooter from Keonjhar to her home to celebrate Dussehra puja with her family. The auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction on Ranchi-Vijayawada NH-220 collided with her near Bhalubasa-Ranibandha locality under Rairangpur Rural police limits.
As Sumitra fell down unconscious and started bleeding, the locals rushed her to a nearby hospital in critical condition. But the doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead.
On being informed, a team from Rairangpur Rural police station went to the accident spot and started investigation. They have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem.
