Angul: A girl died while her brother suffered critical injuries after being hit by a speeding truck at Palalahada in Angul district on Wednesday.
The duo was returning home from school on a bicycle when the accident took place.
The injured boy was admitted to a nearby hospital, a local resident, who was present at the accident spot, said. The driver fled with the vehicle immediately after the accident, he added.
On being informed about the accident, police rushed to the spot and started investigation.Preliminary inquiry revealed that over speeding or brake failure could have led to the accident, a senior police officer said.
