Girl Killed, Father Critical As Truck Rams Bike In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A minor girl was killed and her father critically injured after a speeding truck dashed against the motor-cycle they were riding at Banarpal in Odisha’s Angul district on Monday.

The deceased girl was identified as Shatabdi Suman Panda and her father as Satya Narayan Panda, from Khalua village of Talcher locality of the district.

As per preliminary information, the mishap took place after the girl, identified as Shatabdi Suman Panda of Khalua village of Talcher area, had come from Bhubaneswar by a bus and got down at Banarpal. She was returning home from there in the bike along with her father when the truck hit their two-wheeler. The girl died at the spot.

On being informed, Banarpal police rushed to the site and initiated a probe into the incident.
The girl was rushed to a community health centre (CHC) in Banarpal, where doctors declared her dead, police said.

Her father, Satya Narayan Panda is undergoing treatment at the government-run health facility.

Following the tragic accident, local tehsildar visited the hospital and gave assistance money of Rs 10,000 to the family on behalf of the district Administration, sources said.
