Girl playing Blue Whale game attempts suicide, rescued

Jharsuguda: A girl student of a Bhubaneswar-based nursing college was rescued while allegedly trying to attempt suicide playing the deadly Blue Whale online game.

The victim, a native of Belpahad in Jharsuguda district, slashed her wrists with a blade after consuming sedatives. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital here. Her condition is stated to be stable.

As many as four incidents relating the Blue Whale Challenge have been reported from different parts of the state so far.

On September 11, the Orissa High Court had issued notices to the secretaries of Union IT Ministry, state IT and home departments, DGP, Crime Branch special DG and Police Commissioner asking them to furnish details of measures imitated by them to check spread of the lethal online game.
