Kendrapara: A minor girl sustained serious injuries after being stabbed with a cricket stump at Nuagaon village under Pattamundai police limits in Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
The victim, Manjula Mallick, was initially rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her health condition deteriorated.
Police have detained the accused, identified as Kuna Mallick, for interrogation.
According to sources, the girl had a quarrel with Kuna over the distribution of sports equipment this morning and, in a fit of rage, he stabbed her with a cricket stump.
