Keonjhar: A young girl died after reportedly slipping from a running train while trying to take a selfie near Tangiriapal-Sagadapata railway station in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.
According to sources, the girl, identified as Namrata Behera of Dalanga village under Harichandanpur police station in the district, was pursuing MCA in a private college in Bhubaneswar.
Namrata along with a friend left Bhubaneswar for her home in Keonjhar in the morning. They boarded Puri-Barbil Express train at Bhubaneswar station for the visit. The train left the station at around 8.30 am. She reportedly tried to click a selfie while attempting to capture the scenic beauty outside the moving train, but slipped and fell down on the tracks.
After the train reached Harichandanpur station at around 12.20 pm, her friend informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) about the incident.
The GRP personnel found Namrata lying dead near train tracks and sent it for post-mortem. The GRP has registered a case and launched an investigation.
