Keonjhar: A young girl died after reportedly slipping from a running train in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.
According to sources, the girl, identified as Namrata Behera of Dalanga village under Harichandanpur police station in the district, was pursuing MCA in a private college in Bhubaneswar.
Namrata along with a friend left Bhubaneswar to come to her home in Keonjhar in the morning. They boarded Puri-Barbil Express train at Bhubaneswar station for the visit. The train left the station at around 8.30 am.
But she slipped from the running train between Tangiriapala and Sagadapata stations and fell on the ground. After the train reached Harichandanpur station at around 12.20 pm, her friend informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) about the incident.
The GRP personnel found Namrata lying dead near train tracks and sent it for post-mortem. The GRP has registered a case and launched an investigation.
Though it has not been ascertained how Namrata slipped from the running train, it is suspected that she was taking selfie in a dangerous position and fell from the train.
