Balasore: An inmate was found dead while another was rescued in a critical condition from Purubai Kanyashram at Sora in Balasore district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Hemjani Hansda, daughter of Lal Hansda of Kumarpur village, and the body has been sent for postmortem.
The girl, who was found in critical condition, has been identified as Saraswati Mallik.
In the presence of Sora Tehsildar Debi Prasad Das, police began investigation into the matter.
The reason behind the death of the girl is yet to be ascertained.
