Rayagada: Body of a girl student with a stone tied to it was recovered from a well on Devagiri hill under Kalyansinghpur block in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Devaki Gouda (26), daughter of Biren Gouda of Sunger under Kashipur block.
According to sources, she along with her two cousins was studying Plus-III at Kalyansinghpur College and staying in a rented house. Her cousins found her missing from house on Thursday and informed her family. After two days of search, they found her slippers on the hill.
On being informed, a police team led by IIC Mukundadev Nayak and ASI Shiba Prasad Sahu retrieved the body from the well with help of fire service personnel. A case of unnatural death has also been registered.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Debaki had told her family over phone that she wanted to die.
