Girl Student Found Hanging In University Hostel In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: The body of a girl student was found hanging in the hostel bathroom of Maa Manikeshwari University at Bhawanipatna in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thrusday.

The deceased student was a native of Birikot village under Thuamul Rampur block of the district. She was a first year Plus II student at the university and staying in Indravati Students Hostel of the university.

As per sources, the student went to the bathroom in the morning and did not open the door for a very long time. Her classmates became suspicious and knocked on the door and called the student but there was no response. They reported this to the authorities following which the police was informed about the incident.

A police team visited the hostel and recovered the body, sent it for post-mortem and launched an investigation into the incident. While the student was suspected to have died by suicide, the exact reason and circumstances that led the extreme step are yet to be ascertained.
