Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Infocity area in the Odisha capital after a girl student was shot at by two unidentified miscreants on Monday.
The injured girl has been identified as Sonali Das of Balasore. She is a fashion designing student of NIFT here. She has been admitted to the emergency ward of Kalinga Hospital.
According to sources, the girl student was talking to a youth near the institute when two motorcycle-borne miscreants opened fire on her. She sustained bullet injuries in her two thighs.
The incident took place between 2.30 pm and 2.45 pm.
Preliminary investigation revealed the girl was not the target. “She is out of danger as per the treating physicians. The accused has been identified, motive known. Investigation is in preliminary stages and facts can change,” tweeted Commissionerate Police.
