Dip In Pass Percentage In Plus II Arts, Commerce This Year

Bhubaneswar: Girls have yet again outshone boys in the annual Plus II Arts, Commerce and Vocational Education examinations, the results of which were announced on Friday.

School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash made an official announcement at the Gita Govinda Sadan here in the afternoon.

The pass percentage in the Arts stream is 65.89 as against 68.79 last year. Out of a total of 2,31,150 students, 1,52,323 students — of which 57,442 are boys (55.80%) and 94,881 girls (73.99%) — cleared the examination. Among students who have cleared the examination, 18,773 secured first division, 22,944 second division and 1,10,451 third division.

In Arts examination, Balasore topped the district chart with the highest pass percentage of 75.67 and Nabarangpur the lowest pass percentage at 47.46.

In the Commerce stream, the pass percentage was 70.26 as against 74.91 last year. Out of a total of 26,794 students, 18,826 cleared the examination of which 11,738 are boys (67.91%) and 7,088 girls (74.52%). Among students who have cleared the exam, 5629 secured first division, 3,746 second division and 9,422 third division.

While Khurda topped the district chart with the highest pass percentage of 86.89, Deogarh has the lowest pass percentage at 24.34.

In the Vocational Education stream, the pass percentage is 52.64 as against 52.61 last year. Out of a total of 7,840 students, 4,126 students cleared the examination of which 1,982 are boys (47.92%) and 2,144 girls (57.86%). Among the students who have cleared the exam, 544 have secured first division, 1,707 second division and 1,714 third division.

While Balasore district has the highest pass percentage of 74.34, Nabarangpur district has the lowest pass percentage at 8.33.

Results of Plus II Arts, Commerce and Vocational Education were announced by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on June 9 last year.

On June 3, the CHSE had announced results of the Science stream, which registered a pass percentage of 72.33.
