Glenfiddich Uses Whiskey Waste As Fuel For Its Vehicles In Scotland

London: Scottish distillery Glenfiddich is using the waste from the distilling process of whiskey as fuel for its delivery trucks. The waste is converted to biogas which is used in the trucks.

The company claims to have developed a technology that converts waste from the whiskey distilleries into an ultra-low carbon fuel. It is currently being used at its Dufftown distillery in Scotland.

Currently, 3 trucks are using the biogas to transport spirits from production to bottling and packaging sites located in central and western Scotland.

Glenfiddich claims this helps cut CO2 emissions by over 95% compared to diesel-powered trucks.

The company will be converting its entire fleet of 20 trucks to run on the biogas.
