New Delhi: Global aerospace company Embraer is planning to expand its supply chain in India. It intends to leverage India’s robust aviation and defence industry, recognising that Indian manufacturers and system developers can be key suppliers to Embraer.
Embraer’s Executive Vice-President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain, Roberto Chaves, said Indian manufacturers could become crucial suppliers for Embraer’s defence, commercial aviation, and executive jet businesses, ANI reported.
The Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program presents a significant opportunity for Embraer. In collaboration with Mahindra Group, Embraer can offer the advanced C-390 Millennium transport aircraft as a leading solution. The partnership between the two companies was formally announced in February 2024.
“A high-level delegation from Embraer is concluding a visit to India this week as it evaluates the expansion of its supply chain into the country. Embraer foresees potential suppliers across its defence, commercial aviation and executive jets businesses for areas such as aerostructures, machining, sheet metal, composites, forgings, wire harness, and hardware and software development, recognising that aerospace engineering capabilities are clearly present and available in the country. The visit comes amidst burgeoning relations between Brazil and India,” a statement from Embraer stated.
The Indian Government and Indian Air Force currently operate a fleet of 5 Embraer VIP jets and 3 EMB 145 AEW “Netra” military aircraft.
“We are driven by a common vision, which is to drive the aviation capabilities of Brazil and India to greater heights, and to deliver value to our customers around the world,” he added.
Based in Brazil, Embraer operates in the sectors of Commercial and Executive Aviation, Defense and Security, and Agricultural Aviation. The company specialises in the design, development, manufacturing, and marketing of aircraft and systems and provides comprehensive after-sales Services and Support to its customers.
