Bhubaneswar: Continuing its investigation into alleged suicide of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in school teacher Mamita Meher murder case, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Sunday examined some Under Trial Prisoners (UTP) and staff of Kantabanji sub-jail in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The Crime Branch team seized the ‘Mulakata Register’ of the sub-jail to know the persons who had met Govinda before his death on December 20.
On Friday, the team re-visited the spot where Gobinda committed suicide and recreated the scene with the help of a person who is approximately of same age and weight of Gobinda. A similar wooden log and ‘gamucha’ (towel) were used in the exercise.
It also seized DVDs containing photographs and videos of inquest and post-mortem of deceased Gobinda from the scientific officer, DFSL, Balangir along with the certificate.
Meanwhile, the postmortem report has indicated that it was a case of suicide. The postmortem was conducted in Kantabanji hospital with the assistance of doctors of VIMSAR, Burla.
On Saturday, the agency’s officers visited Gobinda’s house at Mahaling in Kalahandi district and Mahaling Anchalika College, where he was the principal, and seized the governing body’s resolutions register. Besides questioning his wife and daughter, they seized an old notebook of Gobinda.
