Bhubaneswar: The security staff of Biju Patnaik International Airport, here seized gold biscuits weighing around 400 gm from a passenger on Friday.
The passenger, identified as A Jainulabdeen travelling to Chennai checked in at the airport by a flight at 6.10 pm. When he approached the frisking booth, the door frame metal detector (DFMD) showed high density in middle portion of his body. Frisking by hand held metal detector confirmed that the passenger was hiding something in his cavity area.
During interrogation by security personnel, he confessed to be carrying gold in body cavity. Later, four pieces of gold in rectangle shape wrapped and concealed inside the body were ejected. The gold biscuits weighing around 400 gms was estimated to cost Rs 20,14000.
The passenger was deboarded and handed over to Custom officials for further action.
