Balasore: Three unidentified miscreants looted gold jewellery from a woman at gun-point in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.
As per reports, the incident took place when Vivek Choudhry of Barahampur village under Nilagiri police station in the district was returning home on his bike. His aunt Sumitra Choudhury with riding pillion with her minor son.
As they were crossing Tinkoshia forest on state highway 19, the three miscreants came on a bike and intercepted them. The miscreants, who had their faces covered, threatened the child with a gun and robbed Sumitra of her gold ornaments including necklace, earrings and bangles. Then they fled towards Nilagiri.
On being informed by Vivek, a team from Nilagiri police station went to the spot and started investigation. They have collected the footage from CCTV cameras of the shops on the way to the incident site.
The locals have expressed concern over repeated snatching cases in the forest area on the state highway stretch in Nilagiri and demanded police patrolling to prevent such incidents.
