Jharsuguda: Robbers struck at a jewellery shop near the old bus stand in Odisha’s Jharsuguda city and allegedly looted gold ornaments worth over Rs one crore.
According to information, the robbery took place at a jewellery shop located on Mangsapuria, along the city’s main road late on Friday night.
Sources said a gang of thieves entered the shop through the roof. They allegedly used a cutter to break the wall of an adjoining structure and entered the first floor of the jewellery shop. The gang then made its way into the shop on the ground floor, from where the jewellery was reportedly taken.
According to preliminary estimate, ornaments worth around Rs one crore are suspected to have been taken from the shop, according to police.
The exact details of the stolen jewellery are being looked into as part of the investigation.
The thieves are also reportedly believed to have taken the shop’s DVR while fleeing from the premises.
Following the incident, the Jharsuguda SP and Town Police reached the matter and started an investigation. Police are examining how the gang gained access to the jewellery shop through the adjoining building and roof.
