Kujanag: Janata Bidyapitha at Jhiamni under Kujanag block in Jagatsinghpur district celebrated its Golden Jubilee from April 27 to 28.
Former minister Dr Damodar Rout inaugurated the event. Jagatsinghpur MP Dr Kulamani Samal was the Chief Guest and Paradip College Principal Dr Surendra Mishra the Chief Speaker. Noted sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra, and headmistress of the school Kalpana Sutar were present.
A statue of Dr Satyananda Panda, noted educationist and founder of the school, was unveiled on the occasion.
The students presented cultural programmes. Matric toppers of 50 batches and all former teachers of the school were felicitated on the occasion. Besides, a blood donation camp was organised by 1998-batch students and 96 units of blood were collected.
Winners of various competitions held among students of 17 schools of Kujanag and Jagatsinghpur blocks were awarded.
The school also instituted two scholarships for meritorious students.
