Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun the process for the vaccination of the elderly and persons with comorbidities, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said on Thursday.
According to BMC estimates, there are around 20,000 to 25,000 elderly persons in the capital city.
Chaudhary said, “The BMC has formed three teams for three zones to collect their details. The exact number of the elderly persons will be known after the BMC gets the final data.”
He informed that the elderly will also be vaccinated at the hospitals and CHCs in the city where health workers were given the jab earlier.
The BMC Commissioner, who was administered the COVID-19 vaccine at Capital Hospital, said there are no side effects of the vaccine. He urged the people to voluntarily come forward for the vaccination.
