Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to set up four more planetariums, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda informed the Assembly on Saturday.
Panda said the new planetariums will come up at Gopalpur (Ganjam), Rayagada, Keonjhar and Baripada (Mayurbhanj). At present, the state has two planetariums in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur.
The estimated cost of the four proposed planetariums is pegged at Rs 30 crore, the minister said. Of this, Rs 9 crore is earmarked for the construction of the planetarium at Gopalpur, while Rs 7 crore each will be allocated for the other three, he added.
Panda also said the state government has decided to set up a science park in each district in phases. Of these, 10 will be made operational during the first phase.
