Bhubaneswar: Now, pension beneficiaries under Central and State government schemes need not visit panchayat or block offices to avail of their monthly dues.
The Odisha government has launched a system through which eligible beneficiaries of old-age pension, widow pension and differently-able pension can apply for them online. The application will also be approved online by the relevant authorities and the beneficiary will be able to review the status of the application as well.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma informed this in a letter to all district collectors.
Sharma wrote that it was no longer necessary to print forms for the Madhuban Pension Scheme and National Social Pension Scheme. He also advised the collectors to implement the pension schemes online and create awareness among the stakeholders.
“Everything from the application form to the pension approval will be done online now,” he wrote.
Odisha has 28 lakh beneficiaries under the Madhuban Pension Scheme and 20 lakh beneficiaries under the National Social Pension Scheme.
The online system will also help in preventing the spread of COVID-19, Sharma added.
