Balangir: A goods train loaded with coal caught fire near Turekela in Odisha’s Balangir district on Tuesday.
The incident took place when the coal-laden train was proceeding from Raipur to Visakhapatnam in the morning. No injury to anyone was reported in the incident, sources said.
According to preliminary information, the train was crossing Turekela when the station master saw smoke emanating from one of the wagons. The information about fire was passed on to the staff at Kantabanji railway station and the train was stopped.
Immediate steps were taken to call the firefighters who doused the flame within a short time.
