Balasore: A goods train derailed at Rupsa railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, causing disruptions to rail operations in the region.
The incident occurred around 10 am while the train was departing the station after unloading cement and fer
tilisers. It was heading towards Kharagpur when several wagons went off the tracks on the fourth line, according to sources from the South Eastern Railway.
The derailment has impacted rail services on the affected section, with potential delays for trains passing through Rupsa station near Jaleswar in the district. Restoration work is underway on a war footing with heavy equipment deployed at the site to bring the derailed wagons back on track and resume normal operations.
Meanwhile, Railway officials from Kharagpur division have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the derailment.
