Koraput: A goods train derailed near Sivalingapuram Yard in Odisha-Andhra border area on Thursday, disrupting rail traffic and cancellation of a train on the route.
There was no report of anyone getting hurt after eight loaded trains of the goods train from Bacheli towards Visakhapatnam derailed near Sivalingpuram Yard before Tunnel-7 in Sivalingapuram-Boddavara section, sources said.
Accident relief trains from Koraput and Visakhapatnam proceed to the site to organise restoration operations. DRM Waltair Anup Satpathy also rushed to site to monitor relief operations.
Restoration work is being carried out on a war footing. Complete normalcy in train movement is likely to be restored in 36 hours.
Following the derailment, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul train 08551 was cancelled for Thursday before it started and fare refunded to the passengers. Refunds were arranged to passengers and online tickets holders were advised to file online TDR for refunds. Kirandul-Visakhapatnam night express was short terminated at Koraput, the sources added.
