PM Modi Discusses Concerns Over Cyber Crimes With Google CEO Sundar Pichai

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the issue of data security and concerns around privacy, as well as cyber crimes and threats in the form of cyber attacks during his interaction with Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Monday.

Modi suggested that tech companies should put in extra efforts to bridge the trust deficit.

During their ‘meeting’ via video conferencing, Pichai briefed the Prime Minister about Google’s plan to launch a large investment fund and develop strategic partnerships in India.

Pichai also informed the PM about the efforts Google had undertaken to help spread awareness and provide reliable information about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Appreciating the steps initiated by the Prime Minister to set up a very strong foundation of India’s battle against the pandemic, Pichai updated the PM about new products and initiatives undertaken by Google in India. Among them was the launch of AI Research Lab in Bengaluru. He also highlighted benefits of Google’s flood-forecasting efforts.

Modi lauded the Google’s proactive role in battling misinformation and conveying information about necessary precautions. He also spoke about further leveraging technology in providing healthcare services.
