Google has brought in some more features as extra protection for its search history.
Users will now have the option to delete their last 15 minutes of search history on mobile.
The new privacy features are especially important for those who share a device and want to ensure others aren’t able to access their search history, a company executive said in a blog post.
The features, to be introduced by Google for its Android app later this year, will offer users extra protection around searches saved in their accounts.
When users sign in from their Google accounts, they can opt for extra verification in ‘My Activity’, through which additional information will have to be provided before the full history can be viewed. This additional information may be their Google password or two-factor authentication.
Users can also opt to have Google automatically delete search history, along with other web and app activity, after 3, 18 or 36 months.
For new accounts, default time period for deletion of web and app activity will be set at 18 months, but settings can be updated.
