Gopalpur Beach Fest: Products Sale Crossed Over Rs 1.53 Cr

Berhampur: The sale of different products in the five-day Gopalpur beach festival in Odisha’s Ganjam district, which concluded on December 28, crossed over Rs 1.53 crore.

According to sources, different products of the women self-help groups (WSHG) worth over Rs 87.22-lakh were sold during the festival followed by the turnover in food stalls (Rs 37 lakh) and private artisans (Rs 29 lakh).

While the total business in five days was estimated at Rs 1,53,22,000, it was the highest turnover in any festival or trade fair held in the district so far, added sources.

“Besides the cultural programmes, different stalls, including the WSHGs, were also the major crowd-pullers in the festival,” TOI reported executive officer of Ganjam zilla parishad Keerthi Vassan V as saying.

Notably, a total of 275 stalls were put up near the festival site by the Ganjam district administration in collaboration with the Mission Shakti and Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS).

While around 154 stalls were installed for the WSHGs to sell their products, 39 and 28 stalls were meant for the individual artisans and food-makers, respectively. Similarly, 34 and 20 stalls were for departmental exhibitions and corporate houses, respectively.
