Gopalpur MLA Seeks Active Role Of Elected Leaders In COVID-19 Management

Berhampur: Gopalpur legislator Pradeep Panigrahi has appealed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to direct the Ganjam district administration to take the local MLAs into confidence in COVID-19 management.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Panigrahi said different committees may be formed at the levels of Parliament and Assembly constituencies with elected representatives as their active members.

Stating that local people are in a panic with the inflow of migrant workers from outside the State. the MLA suggested that proper management of their stay in quarantine centres, security and adherence to corona protocols can be ensured with involvement of the local leaders.

He also made other suggestions on safety of unaffected people, arresting the spread of the virus from migrants to the locals, and reviving the rural economy.
