Bhubaneswar: Badminton legend Pullela Gopichand on Saturday visited the Badminton High Performance Centre (HPC) which is coming up at the Kalinga Stadium premises.
The former All England Championship winner and successful national coach, who was accompanied by officials of Dalmia Bharat Group, Odisha Badminton Association and Sports & Youth Services Department of Odisha government, reviewed the progress of the HPC which, once completed, will add to the state’s impressive sports infrastructure.
The High Performance Centre for badminton by Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation (PGBF), with support from Dalmia Cements Bharat Ltd (DCBL), is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
The project was due to be completed by December 2020, got delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The centre is now expected to be up and running mid-2022.
The Centre will offer world-class training and coaching facility under the supervision and guidance of Gopichand.
